Velocity Football to host virtual Open Event in November to help students plan their post-GCSE educational pathway

Velocity Football will host a virtual open event live from Oxford City Football Club on November 10th for students interested in exploring a career in sport.

The open event will be hosted by Velocity director Justin Merritt on Zoom from 7pm on Tuesday, November 10th. The evening will offer youngsters and their parents or carers the opportunity to learn more about the programmes that Velocity’s expert team of coaching staff deliver and to raise questions they may have about the course via a ‘type and send’ question and answer session.

Viewers will also be able to learn more about the first-class facilities Velocity Football provides to students via its video showcase which will be streamed after an introduction. The showcase will present interested students with the chance to view the 3G FIFA Pro pitch where most training sessions are delivered, a second 3G training pitch, a mini gym, hard courts, classrooms, changing rooms and social areas. All courses at Velocity Football are open to male and females aged between 16 to 18 and 19 to 23.

There will also be a chance to learn more about the five courses Velocity Football delivers – Level Three BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport, Level Two First Extended Certificate in Sport, Level Four Higher National Certificate in Sport, Level Five BTEC Higher National Diploma in Sport and Exercise Science and the BSC Hons Degree in Sports Coaching.

Justin Merritt said the open event presents males and females interested in a career in sport with an excellent opportunity to learn more about the opportunities available to them.

He added: “Open events are always an excellent chance for potential students and their parents to learn more about the educational options available. Unfortunately, due to the developing COVID-19 situation, we have made the decision to hold this autumn’s open event virtually via Zoom.

“In light of this, we have taken appropriate steps to ensure the evening will be just as informative online. We have produced an exciting video which showcases what Velocity Football is and explains our core values of creating well-rounded individuals, providing a solid but fun academic programme and allowing students to focus on football at the same time.

“Our programmes offer students various opportunities to develop careers in different sectors, for example strength and conditioning, nutrition, or coaching. We will expand on our philosophy and the value of the educational qualifications available during the open event and help viewers better understand the work we deliver. Everyone at Velocity Football is looking forward to hosting as many people possible via Zoom next month.”
