Pack your bags and join Velocity Football! Spaces available for overseas and out-of-area students in 2021-22

Do you live overseas or outside of Oxfordshire but wish to fulfil a career in the sports industry with the support and guidance of Velocity Football?

If so, we have good news. For the 2021-22 academic year, we are providing a range of accommodation settings for students who enrol with Oxford City’s full-time educational academy.

We understand moving away from home to study can be a big step for any post-GCSE student. It is why we work closely with host families and partners to ensure all residential students are comfortable in their new living environment.

At Velocity Football, our accommodation options include:

Homestays: A homestay means you will live with a family who are experienced in hosting students in and around Oxford. Velocity Football will work to source suitable accommodation that fits your requirements. Each host family are Criminal Records Bureau checked.

Breakfast and evenings meals will be provided by the homestay host and a healthy lunch by Velocity Football while you are studying on site. All homestays are English speaking. Some offer private home accommodation, meaning you will live with other guests in the house – the perfect chance to meet new people!

Student residence accommodation: at Velocity Football, we are proud to be partners of Oxford Brookes University. Through this partnership, we can supply university halls accommodation for students wishing to enjoy the vibrant student experience in Oxford.

You will live with people of similar age to yourself in the heart of Oxford and enjoy facilities including huge double bedrooms, en-suite bathrooms, shared kitchens, high-speed Wi-Fi, bicycle storage and more.

Serviced Apartments and Hotels: of course, a homestay or university hall setting might not be for you. Our partners Ignite Sport UK will be happy to locate a hotel or serviced apartment that will suit your needs.

Justin Merritt, Director of Velocity Football, said: “Students who graduate from Oxford City’s full-time educational academy have gone on to fulfil careers in a range of sports-based roles.

“We are pleased to offer foreign and out-of-area students the opportunity to enrol with the Velocity programme and enjoy the full student experience through our strong local partnerships.

“Moving to Oxford and studying with Velocity Football means you can obtain an industry recognised qualification in sport while making new friends, establishing your independence and learning valuable life skills in a world-class city.

“Our programme is delivered by experienced and qualified coaches and tutors and open to male and females aged 16 to 23.”

Located 50 miles north-west of London with regular train and bus services to southern and northern towns and cities, Oxford is one of the UK’s fastest growing and ethnically diverse cities.

The city is world-famous and renowned as a centre of learning. Sport is at the heart of Oxford too.

In 1954, Sir Roger Bannister became the first person to run a mile in under four minutes when clocking a time of 3 mins 59.4 seconds at the Iffley Road Track – now known as the Roger Bannister Running Track.

Oxford United FC are based on the outskirts of the city too and play in League One while Velocity Football partners Oxford City FC play in National League South.

Other amenities include the city’s vast range of tourist destinations, including Christ Church College, Pitt Rivers Museum and Radcliffe Square. Oxford is also home to Westgate Shopping Centre – made up of 125 stores, restaurants and cafes. While the county is home to Blenheim Palace and Bicester Village.

If combining student life in Oxford with Velocity Football’s full-time educational academy appeals to you, why not sign up and enrol for the 2021-22 academic year?
